There are many reason why college athletes should be paid but people have many reasons why they shouldn't. There are multiple opinions on pros and cons of why they should. To me college athletes should be paid coming from a athlete because thy are almost working then any other person in the college and are suffering there body through all the damage and pain they are going through. Another reason is because they put all there time into sports and don't have time for a job. By having colleges have athletes brings in money for the school by the apparel and tickets. By not having sports would bring the college less money. So there for they athletes should be paid.
Pro:
College athletes put there body on the line each and every game.
- The athletes are sacrificing their bodies and physical health at a chance to play a game they love, and possibly make it to the professional level. They also could suffer injury's that cou8ld paralyze them and have career ending injury's.
Athletes bring allot of money
- Big amounts of money are being made through out tournaments for example the march madness and none of the money goes to the athletes and they run and the stars of tit.
Paying athletes begin there financial awareness
- school could also help these students build a foundation of financial literacy. This would allow them to introduce these students to financial investors who had their best interests in mind. Players blamed poor investments, trusting unethical financial advisors and lavish spending habits as the reason for their money troubles. for example 60% of NBA player go broke after 5 years
Con:
Already receive scholarships
- Many people say that they are already special because they have there tuition and room and board are already paid for them. Some athletes already have there books and other basic needs paid for too. This has the athletes already easier all together including financially.
Detract from the purity of the game
- fans say at the collegiate level sports because they believe the players at this level play with more passion and love of the sport than athletes at the professional level. There are some who say professional athletes do not play as hard because they have already made it to the highest level, and they do not want to risk injury if a game is not for a national championship. This could cause the athletes to be less motivated to play.
